When are you ready to do a special?
This comic did two in seven years...
When are you ready to do a special?
Nowadays it seems every comic with a camera is doing a special.

“Back in my day comics spent years developing an act before sharing it with the public. I personally waited ten years before self-producing my Trophy Husband special and selling it on my website instead of free on YouTube.”
Well the times have changed and every comic is no longer competing with the same few TV channels to give them the opportunity to create a special.
Now, the power is in our hands. With social media, we are all one clip away from the “big break” and we’re all playing the viral lottery.
But is the gamble of releasing a full special before you’re “ready” worth it?
Well today’s podcast guest Adam Muller certainly thinks so having now released two comedy specials just seven years into his comedy career.
Adam is an NYC based comedian and Hot Breath! OG who won several of our online writing contests we did during the pandemic.
He has also been on the show to breakdown the logistics and production side of self-producing you can watch or listen to.
Despite all of this, I will admit my initial reaction to hearing him produce now a second special was…
(*cue old man voice*)
“Is he insane? Two specials in seven years?!”
Regardless of your initial reaction, after listening to this interview you will leave with an entirely new perspective on when is it “too soon” to do a special and whether or not Adam is insane or a genius.
I personally went into this interview with one opinion and left inspired with a completely new one.
I would love to hear your opinion on this hot topic as well!
Here’s a bonus for everyone that reads this far down:
