We Made it to JFL! (Kinda)

A few weeks ago I sent an email here calling on the Hot Breathiverse to tag JFL in a video essay I made about them.

Well long story short, so many of you tagged them on social media and it worked! (kinda)

In all honesty, my first draft of this email was a fake story about how JFL saw the video and flew Hot Breath! to the festival first class for a live podcast.

As glamorous as that sounds, that is not the Hot Breath! way. We’ve been underdogs since starting this show over 7 years ago and our entire ethos is to create your own success…which is what we did instead!

Instead of waiting for the opportunity, we created it!

I took the positive momentum created from all of you tagging JFL and flew up to Toronto to produce our first comedian roundtable episode that includes the Programming Manager for JFL!

So although the festival didn’t respond to our social media posts, THE person in charge of booking the festival got the Hot Breath! Experience and was extremely complimentary.

I say all that to say THANK YOU!

This is just one of the infinite examples of highs and lows in the comedy game.

The single most valuable piece of advice I’ve learned in my career is to focus on what you can control. In anything you do and aspire to create, you are in control of your destiny.

We are a for comics by comics community supporting each in this process and I could not be more grateful.
