How to Contact a Booker (Email Template)
Copy and paste this...
Happy Thursday comedy fam!
A topic that came up on this week’s livestream was how to contact a booker.
Well, the most important part to remember when contacting a booker is to focus on what you can control.
You can send the best email ever but whether the booker actually replies is out of your control.
However, putting your best self out there is within your control and the tips below will maximize your chances of getting booked!
Be Professional
I have self-produced several shows and can tell you that most comics have no idea how to contact a booker professionally. So your email having a professional structure will help you stand out and increase your chances of getting booked.
We recently had Winston Hodges on the show and he said “asking for stage time in a polite way that’s not annoying” has gotten him booked more than anything.
So below I’ll share a polite and not annoying email template you can copy and paste for your next booker email.
Hey (Booker’s Name),
My name is (Insert Name) and I’m curious about the booking process of your awesome show (Insert name of show or club).
I have been working hard on my comedy and am grateful for any shows you think I’m a good fit for.
Below is a link to my stand-up and I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks!

BONUS TIP
Name dropping goes a long way when contacting a booker. Ask any quality comics you know that have worked with this booker if you can add their name as a referral in the email.
Disclaimer, make sure this is a quality comic that will help your chances of getting booked and not hurt them.
So what happens if the booker doesn’t reply?
I’ve interviewed several bookers and they’ve all said it’s best to follow-up with them once per month.
Remember, be polite and not annoying!
When you contact a booker it’s important to have quality jokes you're proud to share.
Do you have a long list of “ideas” in your phone or notebook and no idea how to turn them into jokes?
I’m doing a Zoom workshop this Monday to give you the techniques and live feedback necessary to turn your ideas into stage ready jokes.
