The One Trick to Writing Consistently

My favorite technique...

How to Write Consistently

What’s goody comedy fam!

I used to think writing sucks, but what actually sucked was my discipline.

Whether you are a new comic or professional, all comics struggle with consistency. In my 14+ year comedy career, I have tried several techniques to develop a more consistent writing habit and the one below has helped me the most…

It’s called the Pomodoro Technique and it has been a game changer for my writing productivity.

The TL;DR version of this technique is a sequence of work and rest periods.

You set a timer for 20 minutes and focus on nothing but writing during that time. Then you take a 5 minute break, and do another 20 minutes of focused work (repeat).

I love this technique because the hardest part is not checking social media while setting the timer.

Starting is the hardest part!

The secret sauce to starting a daily writing habit is to start small…

Set a timer for 5 minutes to write during and build from there. These small incremental decisions are the foundation for you to build a sustainable writing discipline.

The truth is this technique helps with the physical practice of writing, but there is a whole mental side that is the key to writing daily.

That’s why I’m doing a writing workshop this Monday via Zoom to help you overcome the mental hurdles standing between you writing consistently. Everything I wish I knew 14 years ago will be in this workshop to help you leave with the confidence and skills to start writing daily.

I’ve capped this workshop at 10 seats and there are already only 7 left.
