Judd Apatow's Best Writing Advice

Judd Apatow's Best Writing Advice

What’s goody Hot Breathiverse!

I was just listening to Judd Apatow on the Rich Roll podcast, not Hot Breath!…YET, and he was sharing a lot of gems about his writing process.

If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly thinking “I should be writing more” or “how can I get better at writing” or “I should get a snack.”

Well stress (eat) no more my friends!

I’m here to give you Judd Apatow’s best writing advice that has already changed the way I approach writing.

I know you’re busy (thinking about food) so I’ll make this quick.

I can summarize his approach to writing with two words…

JUST WRITE!

It’s easy to assume that writing is simple for someone at Judd’s level but the truth is he still has to force himself to sit down and write. Just like us, he doesn’t feel like it most of the time. He isn’t inspired. He has writer’s block.

But what makes Judd different is he is willing to sit down and write anyway.

He has a great quote in the interview that “you can’t think yourself into writing, but you can write yourself into thinking.”

Starting is the hardest part!

He admits that most of what he writes is nonsense but it’s all part of the discipline of writing.

So congratulations on sucking at writing just like Judd Apatow!

We are not alone!

OK you’re probably ready to eat now but I go into more detail on this topic in today’s podcast if you want to check it out below.

Happy writing!
